Due to recent global events and Covid 19-related restrictions, what previously presented itself as a strong desire has now turned into a necessity for consumers: sustainable innovation. Nostos is a new brand specialising in mid-to-high-end bags that aims to fill this market gap. Their bags represent a new concept of ‘technological luxury’, featuring a system of smart labels inside each product. The project stems from the need to redefine the concept of ‘traceability’. Mixed technologies will be combined to ensure production chain transparency, as well as authentic information and the impossibility of being altered, lost and destroyed and geo-localisation, but also to extend the experience to a whole new level, with zero impact at the organisational level. These smart, sustainable bags use the blockchain technology to provide relevant information about traceability and the overall supply chain to clients and end consumers. Following accurate analysis, the business was found to be financially sound over time through satisfactory profit margins, with a forecast of reaching break-even point between the second and third year of activity. The bag prototype and the QR code technology were developed in collaboration with Sofia’s classmate Alessandro Morghen.
