Ring
RING is a collection of furnitures that can only be assembled using its wood joinery system. The first focus was to find the design area where we can introduce new furniture for the company by the research of the company.. The company that I chose was a Japanese wood furniture company, Karimoku. Since this is a Japanese company, my design focus was immediately took into the characteristic of wood and Japanese craftsman. From the research, I discovered one specific wood joinery system called “Tokyo”. This system is used for the spot where most of weight will be forced. By solving the locking system, the collection achieved its structure without using any nails or glues.
